Do you cater weddings or large events?
Yes, wedding cupcakes and cakes are our specialty! Please see Wedding Catering for more information, and contact us to schedule a free consultation.
Do you charge a deposit to book a wedding?
Yes, there is a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your date, and the balance is due at least 10 days before your wedding.
Do you offer discounts for weddings or large quantities?
Yes, if your order totals $500+, we offer a 10% discount off your entire order if you pay in full at your consultation at least 90 days ahead of your wedding. See our event contract for details and terms.
Can I get a price quote before scheduling a consultation?
Sure! Please e-mail us the details of your event and what you’re looking to order, and we’ll send you a detailed quote based on our recommendations. We do suggest scheduling a free wedding consultation so we can go over all the details of the quote and personalize our advice to your event and your budget.
How far in advance do you recommend booking our wedding?
Most couples book 6-12 months ahead of their wedding date. We accept bookings farther out as well. Booking early does have its perks- you’ll have more choices for display rental, and if you book at least 90 days ahead with a $500+ order, you’ll qualify for a 10% discount off your entire order if paid in full at your consultation. We do our best to accommodate events booked with less notice, so don’t let that discourage you from contacting us! Please note we do require payment in full for catering orders booked less than 30 days ahead.
How many cupcakes should I order for my wedding?
For cupcake tables, we generally suggest ordering 1.5 standard size or 2-3 mini cupcakes per person, and limiting the flavor selection to 2-4 flavors. The more flavors you choose, the more your guests will be tempted to try one of each, and you want to make sure you don’t run out. If you want to stick closer to one cupcake per person, we suggest only ordering one flavor in standard size, or something simple like chocolate and vanilla.
How much do wedding cupcakes cost?
The same as for any other order, we don’t inflate our prices when we hear the word “wedding”! See our website for pricing and flavors of standard size cake cupcakes and cheesecake cupcakes, mini cupcakes, and vegan and gluten free cupcakes are available as well. Decorated cupcakes are popular and have piped buttercream designs such as flowers, monograms, initials, or a design that expresses your personality.
Can I customize cupcakes to my wedding color and theme?
Of course! We offer tons of options to coordinate your cupcakes and cake to your wedding colors, such as baking liners, every type of sprinkle you can think of, and imaginative decorators eager to turn your vision into reality.
Do you make cutting cakes?
Yes, we offer round and square cutting or anniversary cakes, as well as two tiered cakes. Two tiered cakes are popular, as many couples freeze the top tier for their first anniversary, and serve the bottom tier to their head table so the attendants don’t have to stand in line for their dessert.
How much do wedding cakes cost?
See anniversary cakes and groom’s cakes for sizes and prices based on design. Two tiered cutting cakes are popular so one tier can be frozen for your first anniversary, and the other tier can be served to your head table. Larger tiered wedding cakes are $5-$8 per serving depending on filling and design. Please note we don’t work with fondant or gum paste, only our homemade buttercream. We don’t make sheet cakes, but we do offer plain frosted layer cakes for $4.50+ per serving to supplement a 3+ tiered wedding cake.
Do you provide a box to freeze my cake or take home leftover cupcakes?
We transport wedding cupcakes in our reusable tupperware bins and try to be eco-friendly whenever possible. You are welcome to purchase boxes to freeze your cake or take home leftover cupcakes from us, or from other sources. Please note we will not bring boxes unless they are ordered. See page 4 of our event contract for pricing and details.
How do I freeze the top tier of my wedding cake for our first anniversary?
Wrap the box in plastic wrap and freeze. Defrost the box in the refrigerator the day before your anniversary. Take it out of the fridge on your anniversary and let the cake come to room temperature 2-3 hours before serving. Please note we cannot guarantee how the decoration or flavor will hold up in the freezer, but couples have told us their anniversary cake still tastes great a year later!
When and where can I schedule a wedding consultation?
We schedule free consultations at our Cathedral Square bakery Monday-Wednesday 9am-5:30pm, Thursday-Friday 10am-7pm, and Saturday 10am-4pm. Saturday appointments are available on the hour only. Fill out our wedding consultation contact form to schedule your appointment today!
Is there a charge for wedding consultations?
We offer free consultation appointments for weddings and events planning to order catered dessert for 50+ guests. If your guest count is less than 50 or you don’t need catering services, you may not need a full appointment, as much of the information is geared toward larger orders. Please contact us to determine whether you need a consultation for a smaller event.
At the consultation, couples can choose 4 free cupcakes from the flavors we have in stock on the day of your appointment. You’re welcome to purchase additional in stock bakery at regular prices. You can also pre-order specific flavor samples for a $7 charge per flavor, and we’ll make a batch especially for you and give you 2 cupcakes per flavor ordered. This sample service is also available after you book your wedding up until your balance is due.
How many people can I bring to my wedding consultation?
Our seating area is small with only 4 tables, and the largest tables seat up to 4 people. Couples typically bring a parent if they will be paying for the order. You’re welcome to bring additional decision makers if you like, but please be aware we may not have enough seating for everyone, and you may need to purchase additional cupcakes if the 4 free samples won’t be enough for your party.
How long does a consultation appointment last?
Our owner or manager will conduct a presentation with slides and customized advice that typically lasts about 15-20 minutes depending on the number of questions you have. We allow an hour between appointments to ensure we have additional time to sit down and help you put together your order if you’re ready to do so.
Should I expect to pay for my wedding order at the consultation?
You certainly don’t have to, but there are benefits to paying for your order in full at your consultation. First, you’ll have the peace of mind of being able to check one thing off your list! Second, if your order totals at least $500 and your wedding is at least 90 away, you’ll get a 10% discount off your entire order if you pay in full at your consultation. You don’t need to decide all the details of your order to take advantage of the discount. We just need to know the number of cupcakes you’re comfortable ordering, size of cutting cake or tiered wedding cake, and what services you need. Details like flavors and decorations can be finalized closer to your wedding if you prefer. You can also add additional cupcakes or cake servings up until 10 days before your wedding if needed, though the 10% discount is a one time offer. Alternatively, you can forgo the discount and pay a non-refundable $100 booking deposit to reserve your date, and the balance will be due 10 days prior to your wedding. Please see our event contract for terms.
Can you deliver my wedding cupcakes, or do I have to pick them up?
We offer full service delivery, setup, and display rental services to help your wedding day run smoothly. If you need display rental, we do require that we deliver and set up your order. If you are providing your own display, then you’re welcome to pick up your order during normal business hours and have your caterer set up your cupcakes. Service fees vary by location, see our event contract for details and terms.
Do you rent cupcake displays?
Yes, we have several cupcake display collections available for rent on a first come, first served basis for any given date. We often cater 8-10 weddings per weekend in the busy summer and fall wedding season, so booking early gives you the best chance of reserving the display you want. Our fee for display rental is $50 per collection, whether it’s one larger tiered stand or multiple smaller stands within a collection. We only rent our displays when you also purchase bakery from us for your event. In addition, there is a refundable display rental security deposit of $100 in case anything is lost or broken. See our event contract for details and terms.
Do I have to bring the display back after my wedding, or can you pick it up?
We do offer display pickup service, fees vary by county. If you elect to have us pick up the display from your reception venue, we will clean and box it for you. If you decide to return it yourself, then we require that you clean it, pack it safely in its carrying box or bin, and return it to our downtown Cathedral Square bakery the next business day after your event. Please note we are closed on Sundays, and our Brookfield Square location is unable to accept returned displays. If you return our display dirty, late, damaged, missing parts, or without the carrying box or bin, your security deposit will not be refunded, and we may charge you the replacement cost.
Can I provide my own cupcake display?
Yes, please see our Wedding Gallery for ideas. We are happy to deliver and set up your cupcakes on your display, as long as you describe it ahead of time so we know what to expect.
Do you have centerpiece cupcake displays?
Yes, we have two collections of wedding cupcake centerpieces you can rent- white 3 tiered stands that hold 12-18 cupcakes per table, or silver wire stands that hold 13 cupcakes per table. Using your cupcakes as centerpieces on guest tables will save you lots of money on flowers, while also avoiding a line at the dessert table!
How far ahead do you bake wedding cupcakes and cakes?
We bake everything fresh from scratch and don’t freeze any of our cakes or cupcakes. Most items are baked within 24 hours of your event. Cheesecake cupcakes and some cakes are baked a couple days ahead, as they need to set in the refrigerator overnight before they can be frosted and decorated.
How long can your cupcakes sit out on display?
We recommend that our cupcakes are consumed with 2-3 hours of setup so they don’t start to dry out or get too warm in hot weather. We prefer to set up during cocktail hour or shortly before so the cupcakes stay fresh as long as possible. They can sometimes last longer when exposed to open air, but asking for an earlier setup time is done at your own risk. We want to protect our reputation as well as your investment!
Do you provide table linens, napkins, plates, or utensils?
We do not, please arrange for these items to be provided by your caterer.
Do you offer cake cutting service?
No, cake cutting should be done by your caterer.
When is my final order and payment due?
If you haven’t taken advantage of the 10% discount for pre-payment, your final order and payment is due at least 10 days prior to your wedding. We will contact you 1-2 months ahead and help you narrow down the details. Most orders can be decided over e-mail or phone, though you’re welcome to schedule a second appointment if you prefer to make those decisions in person. Please note we do charge for any samples beyond the initial consultation.
